One of a series of paintings depicting the South Bank of the Thames between Putney Bridge and Barnes Bridge.

I enjoy working contre-jour with the tonal contrast, rich shadow patterns and baring down of detail looking towards the light source creates. I employed vigorous, loose brushwork to emulate the bouncing light “refracting” through the winter trees before pinging off surfaces and disrupting the shadows.
