K. Gorny
One of a series of paintings depicting the South Bank of the Thames between Putney Bridge and Barnes Bridge.
I was attracted to the tension between the visual confusion created by the throng of figures and puddled reflections and the dynamic lines of perspective that cut through the melee. The sweep boats serve to move you through the painting quickly while the architecture offered some stable respite to the more chaotic activity.
